    Hi Kirmit,
from the photo:- no tank, no seat, no sidecovers (on the side that's shown, anyway) and no grabrail.
Implied in the text:- If they are selling the bike for parts betcha there's no title neither.
OTOH the slotted brake rotors seem to say it's a 1980.
From the photo $1,500 is 3X what I'd be willing to part with. And I'd bag on about all the missing parts, make a serious fuss about sellers proof of ownership, make a first offer of $200 and be prepared to go $500 but no more.

I second Fred's offer. It's a PARTS BIKE!! If it was complete, and in NICE shape, $1,500 would be fair. As it sits, I probably would NOT go over $350 myself.

I don't think I'd even go that high. I don't know Texas, but I found this on Craigslist.

I think it is a much better deal. You can almost always find a good running XS for $1500, and that bike will take some coin & time to get back on the road.

            Someone needs a mental enima....

If they think that bike is worth that kinda cash. Or they need to buy more things from ME!!

Not to say someone couldn't make that if they parted it out piece by piece, but that would take time and effort as well. Typically I look at NADA for prices and figure that is a pristine needs nothing bike. Then start deducting for the price of any repair(s) needed.

              Hi Kirmit,
some parts for sure. You can't tell from the photo if the frame is bent or the engine/tranny is blown or the forks are f***ed, right? Hey, it may even be a doable resto but even if it's mechanically OK unless it's papers are in order, don't go there.

                Parts and un titled bikes

While at my local BMV to get plates for all my rides, one of the added bonuses of oyur B-day coming around, I was asking them about this scenario. I have seen ALOT of bikes being sodl for next to nothing as soemone found them in their storage place when they "evicted" the former owner.

Now, obviously they could be stolen property, and I would highly recommend doing a search or contacting a friendly local popo to see if you can get the vin ran. But there is a procedure, at least here in Ohio, to get a title for the machine. It sounded kinda lengthy and not simple or easy (read possibly NOT cheap). But it can be done. Still...these dudes are not looking to "give it away" on this one.

                    Might as well

Im going to Beaumont here in the next couple of days to maybe look at it. AND.... I called the shop where it is at and he told me it was not running, it was a salvage deal, he was going to part it out, but he didnt know if it had a title at all! we will see. Gave him my number and he is going to call me back.

Last year one of our local riders bought a mint condition special, along with another 'parts' bike that was running. Paid $1000 for both. The deals are out there - you just have to be patient. I prefer to buy parts when I need them, as opposed to a parts bike. Space is limited in the man cave .
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.
