  • Advice PLEASE

    Hello!

I have an XS1100e 1979 and ive got a little problem with it.

The problem is the clutch, it doesnt do anything... New clutch cable on but still nothing, put a socket onto the nut and turned it as much as it would go but still nothing (im testing it by turning the wheel when in gear, the wheel doesnt move so i know the clutch isnt working)

Also, does anyone know where i could get a petrol tank for it or something that will fit it.

Not to seem like a nit picky person, but you can't have an E and a 79. 79 models were Fs Did you mean you have a standard 79? Clutch is the same through all years IIRC. What I gather from your description is that you are trying to push the bike and or roll the wheel with it in gear and the clutch lever pulled, and the wheel is not rolling due to clutch not releasing.

Yep, I would try the clutch adjustment procedure shown. There is another thread here with the same issue. Check this one out.

The clutch plates in these will sometimes stick together if they have been sitting for a long time. Sometimes you can break them loose by holding the brakes and tapping the starter. If you're saying the clutch won't engage, that's a different situation.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.
