Torque Spec - Cam Bearing Caps

Hey Guys - Anyone have the torque spec for the cam bearing caps on a 1980 XS11 Special? They're pretty small and I don't want to over tighten them. Thanks in advance.

Don't trust your torque wrench unless it's brand new or been re-calibrated. Just tighten down enough until you are about to cack your pants.That is gentle.

7-1/2 ft-lbs. Hard to do unless you have a small beam-deflection torque wrench. Or a REALLY expensive small click-type. My beam-type didn't have a scale fine enough for 7-1/2 so I made my own mark halfway between 5 and 10. Close enough, i guess. Never had a cam cap blast through the cam cover (yet)!

Basically, 7.5 lbs is the torque for any of the 6mm bolts that seat in aluminum. The downside is that 7.5 is VERY close to the point of stripping out the threads. With all the bolts being the same, I have developed quite a 'feel' for tightening to 7.5 without the torque wrench.
