  • How much for a speedo

How much in USD should I expect to pay for a 160mph Speedo??

Everytime I find one on Ebay that I think is a reasonable priced somebody comes along and pushes the price up past $50USD, which doesnt sound a lot until you add the cost of postage to NZ, typically 20 to 30 bucks and convert it to NZD, and then it becomes around 150 bucks and too expensive for me at the moment.

Is 50 bucks an average price ?, too cheep ?, too dear" or do I just have to harden up and get the moths out of my wallet and pay what the man asks?

    Hah!
the shipping is the same if you got a speedo as a gift and US$50 is a deal. Try getting a Smith's speedo for a Britbike. Effin' 'undreds, they are. My BSA 250's speedo died on me a while back. The price of a replacement is such that I reckon forget authenticity, it's getting an electronic digital unit from a bicycle shop.

Smiths speedo's are easier to find here. Pricey, but easier.

I've looked at all sorts of options, from push bike units to those things that mikesxs has, but i've decided to stick with original. If 50 bucks is a deal then I'll just have to get used to it and bite the bullet.

Speedos are a hit and miss when it comes to availability and price. I saw a recent NOS unit that started at $180, I guess not bad for a brand new unit. I recently purchased a complete set of insturements, tach & speedo, with pilot box for less than $20 (for a standard, 160mph speedo). I was shocked my bid was accepted but I was not going to question it. You have to be diligent in your searches to score the best deals. Most of mine are done in the wee hours of the morning when sleep just ain't gonna happen. I would most likely scoop up another set if it became available since it will only get harder to find 'em. BTW, fuel gauge actually worked on the $20 set.

Picture is cut off where the tripmeter knob is. I would make sure its there and operational. Got no idea how much 9.99 in sterling. Its in mph also, if its used to U.S. roads, needles might swing the wrong way cause yall drive on the wrong side of the road.

If you're near any beaches with lots of tourists.. just wait for the old fat guy to dive into the water, and you could get one for free.

Or... is that not the speedo you meant?

Yeah we drive on the left, but as far as we're concerned it's the right side, not the wrong side

                      Tod IS a sick man!
If you need a little help with a speedo from ebay, let me know via PM. We MIGHT be able to find one in the US, and then I could buy and ship it to you. USPS "one price" box is about $30.00 US, and it's whatever you can fit in it. If you can find a few parts you may need, it MAY make it the "cheap" way to get the speedo!
Just a thought, and I do have the paypal account that allows me to send/receive from almost anyplace. I've listed a few parts on ebay, and will be listing a few more 750 parts soon.

Thanks, I might take you up on that offer.

I'm watching one at the moment that the seller has listed as "Ships to US only". I've asked the question and they've replied that they will ship to NZ for 20 bucks, but they havent yet changed the auction to allow international bids. If I miss this one i'll PM as you've offered. I have paypal also so payment will be a breeze.

                        Once again, thanks.

I could ship it to DiverRay if you wanted more parts from the states and let him box everything and ship to you.....
