  • New Mikesxs coils?

I was looking on Mike's XS site, and I saw some new XS Performance Ignition Coils that I do not recall seeing there before. I searched, but did not find anything on here about them. The other "High Output Replacement Ignition Coil" that I had looked at before comes up, but not this "new" one. Has anyone tried it? What is the difference in output between the performance coils vs the high output ones? Is it worth the $70 price difference? The link to see the test data does not work. It is not a link.

    The copy reads:
    XS Performance Ignition Coil
    Product Photo
Dual Tower XS Performance High Output Ignition Coil 3.3 OHM
Primary Resistance. 15K OHM Secondary Resistance. Capable of
sustained 45KV output with 12.5v DC input. Capable of sustained
75KV output with 14v DC input. Replaces stock factory Tci
ignition coils on All 1980 & up models and works with Pamco
ignitions (Non rephased engine types). Requires 7mm Dia. High
tension spark plug wires (order separate) and 5K OHM spark
    plug caps.

    Warning: Serious High Voltage

      Hey Dave,

Hadn't seen them, but like Marty said, they look like GREEN Dyna coils....oh...wait....GREEN.....Ooooh.....hmmmmm.. ..naw, nobody sees them under the tank anyways, just the wires, and mine are already green!

IIRC the stock coil was rated at about 15 KV, the Mikes black high output is rated at ~35KV, this one says 45KV at the 12.5 driving voltage.

For the extra price, it may be overkill??

Thanks guys! I think that I'll follow TC's recommendation. The black coils from Mike's more than double the stock output, and cost half as much as the "performance" (Dyna?) ones. Plus, I am both cheap and poor!
