The closes I had to Indigo Blue Yamaha was the Indigo Blue Chevy truck color. It's NOT that close, but it is the best available IMHO.
If you have a GOOD bit of paint, go to an Auto paint shop and try to match it. You can then buy the duplicolor that gets close. The shop I went to had color tags, and I just took some out in the sun, and tried to get as close as possible on the gold for the MNS.

      paint color

Been there, done that................and the CORRECT match for the Indigo blue is car:Toyota, Year:2000, Code:210, Color:Carbon Blue-Black-effect. That is a single stage that I had mixed in an aresol can at my local auto paint store. Was a perfect match re-doing my side covers. You'll have to remove all the paint as the original is a laquer(Enamal doesn't work on top of laquer, even if primed). Sand or strip ALL prvious paint. If doing side covers, use primer for plastic only, from auto paint store. If doing tank too, you will want to use metal etching primer on the bare metal, then shoot color in several coats only letting previous coat "flash" dry. If you don't remove ALL the original laquer, the new enamel will "blister" before it ever totally dries. The painter who just recently did all the tupperware on my ST1100 in a three stage pearl white with red pearl overcame this problem by just lightlyhitting the air on the paint gun, "flash" drying before paint could bite through primer into original paint. Laquer is still used on all our jap bikes as emission standards aren't what they are here. Him being familar with all that made it work, clear coat and all, but that also is his forte, and timing is the essence I'm sure. Hope this has all helped.

For the hardcases and side covers have approx. 3-4 rattle cans done up of the color and code I stated above. Purchase 2-3 cans of the primer for plastic, and a whole lot of elbow grease for stripping or sanding first. Gonna half to remove ALL original paint. Done in cans there is not catylist, no biggie, just takes a bit longer for solvents to evaporate out of paint so it sets up good. The nozzles that are on those cans do a real nice fan pattern and the paint will lay on there like glass if you do a series of light coats, no sanding in between coats. Let each coat just "flash" dry and apply next light coat. Just like anything else, good preperation is the key.

Do NOT use stripper on plastics, it will make the surface unusable as a painted surface DAMHIK. Sanding is the ticket on plastics, but be careful to work to finer grit BEFORE you get through the paint (once again DAMHIK) or you will be working a coat of bondo into the scratches and trying to get that smooth to paint over.

I found that starting with about 80 grit and working down to around 180 by the time your down to plastic seems to work fairly well. Do be cautious, after I screwed mine up it turned out to be easier to find replacement ones on ebay (unfortunately thats not always easy to do).
