  • Wiring help needed

I finished connecting all the wires on my 79 but would like to know where they should be stashed before putting everything back together.

Anyone care to take a few detailed photos of their wiring so I can see how it should look?

    Thanks!

I guess they get stashed between the battery box and the fuse box?

Also, where does the Ignition Unit mount?
I've seen pics of them on the inner fender just behind the battery, but I don't see how this will work on my bike.

The 2H7 ignition module mounts to the rear fender on a Standard, and the rear INNER fender on a Special. The '78 and '79 Standard seat has a plastic cowl that covers the box. There should be two mount points for 6mm screws on the chrome part of the rear fender.
Most of the wires from stator/alternator go BEHIND the fuse block mount.

It's a 79 Standard. I just ordered a new fuse block last night.

Since I will be leaving the chrome rear fender off, any suggestions where to mount the unit?

Any problem putting it inside the tool case?

Tool case is too small. Would it be o.k. to velcro it to the front of the battery?

What if you remove the tool case? Would that be enough space?

I could velcro it to the back of the battery then. Otherwise the fender has too much of a curve to mount it there.

                  Hi Giggity,
if you are substituting an aftermarket rear fender you can mount the ignition module to it? If you are going fenderless, put it someplace it won't get buried in the same stream of mud and road dirt that will be streaking up the back of your jacket.

Is there enough room to fab up a bracket to adapt it to the fenders curve? if you just have mounting points touching the curve it is easy to match to.
