    just bought a 82 xj1100j for $950 owner said it had been sitting a year or so. got it home fired it up with carb cleaner it runs but not good. pulled carbs, gas tank to be cleaned installed new needle valves. need to reassemble.hopefully no first or second gear problems. btw new dunlops,new progressive rear shocks,mac header,new paint.the bike looks good. 17,??? miles. happy to have found this web sight great info!!!

    Welcome to the site! lots and lots of great info here. enjoy the beast, they're a blast. find a service manual and read up on stuff, you'll find it invaluable. between that and the fine folks on this site, there's nothing you wont be able to fix or find a viable solution for. again, welcom to the family, have a nice dy and ride safe

      You indeed have found a great place to find info.
      Sounds like with a little work you will have a great bike.
      Yea,a lot of bike sit too long without proper storage prep or even regular maintainance.But once you sort that out you have a good bike.I love PO's
