NICE looking bike! I LIKE the Pacifico fairing you have on that! IThe windscreen is TOO clean, though. I had to look for the edges to see it!

          Hi John O',
how does the plate system work where you are? The YXS-11 plate looks too elegant for the "new plate at owner change" North American system; more like the plate you'd get with the British "one plate for life" system. Did you have to wait until the original YXS-11 machine went to the scrapyard and you could inherit the registration or will your lot sell you a custom aka prestige aka vanity plate that you pay extra for?
In Saskatchewan they'll sell you a prestige plate for $82 with whatever you want on it so long as it ain't rude or political. Back when my ride was an XS650 my boys tried to get me an XS-650 plate for a father's day gift. They wouldn't let us have that "because we may in the future use that format for normal registrations" Bunch of wankers, even I could sort that out on a computer. So I settled for just XS. Worked for the XS650 and for my XS11 too.

Hey, Fred...Here in the states, we used to leave the plates on the vechicles and they transfered between owners....
Now, and I think it's like tihs in all 50, but not sure, we KEEP the plates and transfer between vechicles as long as they would be of same kind. i.e. cars, trucks, motorcycles.
Or until the state desides to change the design, and make obsolete the design,
I was kinda upset last time they did that....had to buy new plates for everything I own (5 vechicles) ouch!

Here is California the plates stay with the vehicle for life unless they are vanity plates which stay with the owner of the plate. Even with changes to the plates you keep the plates originally issued with the vehicle, and if over 25 years old IIRC you can get plates like would have been issued when new for an extra fee, they refer to them as model year specific I believe.

HI guy's thanks for the nice replies, these plates are a extra payment of $60 on top of the normal yearly rego of $500 a year . the rego info is in that small tube under plate, the plates stay with the bike I hade to go through the alphebet till i found a combination that was not allready taken by someone else, took ages haADLEEMAN. The bike is a 78e model the original owner bought it to AUSTRALIA with him in 1980 I've had it 12mths now he repainted it gold 12yrs ago, then couldn't ride anymore he's now 83yrs old.I was told that it is a factory model venture i think.I took the bottom part of the fairing of during summer kept burning my legs, on hot days we get dats of 40 to 45degs in summer the head temp gauge gets to 350deg f it has the yamaha pacifico plate near the plug.the box on left side of fairing bottom is a headlight strobe which we can't use here legaly. I use a polish called PURPLE on the windscreen it works great.

Am I reading that right/ $500 per year for registration?

                        XSrunner,
I was told that it is a factory model venture i think
The '78 was not called a "venture". It was just a '78 XS1100, and came as a stock or "dressed" version. I had an original "full dress" '78 back in the day...
I DO like the Pacifico fairing over the Vetter. It allows the bike to cut through the air, instead of trying to push the air.
I was just crying about my "new" registration cost of $62 US!! I hope they at least gold plate the registration cert for $500
