high temp paint for muffler

time to finish this project now that i've got the whitewall tire in. I've got a set of old gold colored chery bomb style slash cut mufflers that I want to paint along with the polished lip on the rear rim, i remember trying some spray on caliper paint years ago but recall it faded dark and dull over time, what do you guys recommend for that classic red bobber look that will hold it's color well and what do you think the max temp on the mufflers reach? Thanks gents. Sorry havnt been around, completed 4 other bikes this winter but never got around to my own..lol

kind of like this, but i saw a better pic a while back ago but with slash cut style, thats the look i'm going for.

I used VHT header paint on mine. I have a cherry bomb muffler, and had to weld a bracket on it which required a repaint, The header paint doesnt have much opacity, so it takes a lot of coats to cover, and it is flat, not glossy. I imagine a coat of clear engine enamel over it would help with the glossy part. Supposedly the header paint is good to 1200 degrees.

Not a lot of time on my muffler yet, but as the man who fell from a skyscraper could be heard saying at each floor, so far so good.

I used Krylon BBQ & Stove paint, nice shine and mufflers don't get hot enough to change the paint. I know they have different colors but ya gotta look around. Nice bikes by the way
