    I'm currently restoring a 1979 XS1100SF and I'm finding some parts difficult
    or nearly imposible to find.
I went in search for a wiring harness and found one for an XS1100F
Will it work on my bike?

My guess would be no. There are differences in the wiring on standards and specials, though I am more familiar with the 80 models.

There is the fuel guage (standard) vs. low fuel light (special), the guage clusters are different shapes and may not have matching plugs, and I think the "black box" is located in a different position on the bikes.

All that having been said, if you have no harness at all, that one would be a good place to start if you can do some adapting. If you had a harness for your bike already I would be more inclined to repair it.

Also check with Randy Jackson here in Texas. He has lots of parts, and his service has always been reliable. He may have the harness you need.

Check the members section . . . or the links . . . or I know he is on the allxs11 yahoo list. Send him a private email . . . he drives OTR trucks so it could take a few days for him to get back to you, but he has always followed through.
