XS parts interchange

I have been slowly but surely trying to restore my '79 XS 1100 standard to rideable. I have had to endure alot of blood, sweat, and tears for this (mostly because the wife beats on me every time I spend money on "her"{Kidding}).
Anyway, I had to endure the H-D knuckles coming into town for the River Run. I only live about sixty miles from Laughlin. This got me thinking about other bikes I could get parts from.
I found the article about H-D mufflers on my stock pipes and will be doing this shortly. I also wanted to know if any of the XS parts from other years or models are interchangable.
So I ask, does any one know what non-engine parts are compatabli with my bike ?

I am wondering the same... for now I still have stock exhaust on my 81 sh..but it aint gonna last forever. So far i have seen /found
some alternatives. But nobody can match the "stock sound" as far as I can tell. Many options are out there..for instance, I have a friend with an 82 Kaw 1000. he has a kirker 4 into one(they make a couple for our bikes). its nice and mellow til about 4 grand...then it starts howling like a cat on fire..sure iit sounds cool if yer into makin noise but...Another guy I know has a set of jardine slip ons..(xs850) not bad but kinda "flubby?" sounding till about 5 grand then they beller too.
Seems I read a thread a while back about usin HD Fatboy slip on muffs....hmmm might be worth lookin up again...Guess I aint sure..waht the best option is...spose I will just plug my ears and hope

Rear shocks will fit from models using the same length. You can also get longer or shorter ones. The holes in the mounting bushings are a little smaller and need to be pressed out and the bushings from the old shock reused.
Front and rear tires are also available cheap at Harley shops since lots of models used the same size.
