I just took off a set of crash bars that had rubber grips mounted to them... The right one has a little road rash...I'll give them to you for $5 plus shipping? They appear to mount in the exact same spot as the ones you have pictured... I could take pics of them today.

That highway footpeg looks like it has some kind of custom spacer in there between the mounting clamp and the peg itself.

Ok, damn it's cold out there!

As you can tell, it's a tiny bit bent also, I can straighten it in the arbor press at school if you want it, I was just gonna throw them in my steel recycle pile... Hell, make it $2 plus shipping and they're yours...

I am looking for a set of crash bars as well.

I need a set for the 80 special.

All the ebay ones have been pretty rusty or scraped lately.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

              Daveyg,

I would be interested in those bars if madmax-im doesn't want them. Check your PM's.

Yeah the peg has to clear the engine otherwise you cant put you feet on them...
Dave I'll take 'em ...at that price I can dress them up a bit...if yiu can get them straightened out then cool...I'll PM you. Its not exactly what I was looking for but it will work so I will still be looking for other footpegs...I think its time I emailed MAXIMAN.
Sorry Larry...BTW soon the YICS eliminator will be installed and carbs will be resynched by a shop that does expert work on all kinds of older bikes. I'll do the install and they'll do the synching. I will report to you all what the net results are once its done and been tested.

                  rusty

I bought some rusty scraped up ones on Ebay and had them sandblasted. Then I had them powdercoated Black. They look pretty damn good. I think I may have another set around here. If anyones interested I will have a look see and grab a few pics.

does anyone know if rear crash bars exist for the XS? \

Keep your feet off the crippler pegs.

                        Hi Madmax-im,
as daveyg's pics clearly show, the crashbar function really works to keep road rash off the bike, so yeah, crashbars are a great accessory.
But keep your feet off those forward pegs. The stock footpegs put your feet under your arse so you can take your weight on them if you need to.
The forward pegs put your legs out straight and bend your backbone the wrong way so when you run over a bump you take the hit right up the spine.
Then the next place you go is to your chiropractor.
