What do you think the market value for a real clean 1978 XS11 E is?
21k, runs perfect, orig paint in good shape, new bat & tires, rebuilt carbs and brake systems with SS braided lines. all stock-no mods.

I don't know; market price is whatever someone is willing to pay. I'd guess maybe $1500, $2000 tops, but I'm just guessing. That's the range in which I would be willing to pay.

I just bought one for $1000, but it had twice the mileage and a few ridiculous mods that I'm still ironing out.

That bike may very well fetch $2,000.00 or more... depending on how/ where you sell it.... I frequently watch ebay for parts / spares for my '80SG, which was $2,100 in GREAT shape, and I have seen them go for anywhere from $1000 (running, needs major cosmetics) to right around $3,000 (damn near perfect).
