Hi again, I was reading the up grade section on coils and i have just a question about the following quote.
"These coils will work with all years of our bikes, 78-81, and the 82-84 XJ11's as well. With the earlier years that use the ballast resistor, you'll just need to remove and bypass the resistor so that the coils can get their full 12 volts power. With the 81 XS and later XJ's, it's just plug and play. "
DO i have a ballast resistor? if so how do i by pass it.
I have 1980 XS1100G, I just order the 2 coils on line and also just bought a set of 8mm wire at the local auto shop (street fire by msd).
In the picture of the thread the coils looked the same as mine and each coil was only connected by 2 wires.
One thing that was not really clear on the thread was how do you connect the wires it the coils? there was no really pictures showing this step.
-do you just cut the around the center of the wire and fold it back over the wire and then put the "o" rings on then screw them on??
I am hoping that i can just "plug and play" the coils and be done and move on to the next project with this bike. I have read how much of a difference this up grade makes, so i am excited to put these things on and go...
Thanks for the help.

Besides saying a few choice words, ok a lot of choice words I kinda put something together. I kinda taped a boot and rigged it. Honestly i don’t think it is going to work very good.
) trying to assemble it dry. With a little squirt of wd (before you put the donut on the high tension wire) it should go together using only your bare hand to tighten. Squirt the WD on the end of the wire, slide the cap on, slide the donut on and back up the wire a bit, screw the wire onto the screw post inside the end of the coil, slide the donut down, and tighten the cap with your fingers.
