Steve, have you tried some back support like a back rest or a brace like they wear at Home depot?

Yeah, they gave me one of those after the surgery but it presses on my stomache too much and causes terrible heartburn (another issue the docs whittled on me for, with limited success). I'd rather have the back pain, sad to say. The wheels have been slowly falling off the bus and I can be just a mess some days.

What I really need is a backrest, but 1. I've never seen one that wasn't butt-ugly except on a dresser 2. they're expensive to buy and a PIA to build and 3. I'd have an awful time getting my leg over the bike. I'm more afraid of getting tangled up and falling. My brother-in-law has a full-dress 'wing and it's very comfortable, but I need a tall footstool to get on it and help getting off....

What would work would be a low rigid chopper with one of those 'king-queen' seats you used to see in the bike movies; you know, where the seat height is about 20" and the GF's crotch is about even with your shoulders. But that would beat me to death, as well as the god-awful handling.

      It's hell getting old.... sigh.

Well, I might be interested in a nice day ride. Seeing as how you'd pass me right by. It would be fun. Now If I can get the warden to let me have some time off.
