  • Final words on factory carb slide spring length

I finally found my brand new slide spring that I ordered simply for the purpose of measuring it. I laid it on its side and used my calipers. It is not an easy measurement to make. I came up with a length of 5.14". I have been promising this measurement for quite a while. Sorry it took SO long.

The MAJOR measurement would be the compression pressure needed to compress it to about 3". that would give everyone an idea of how "strong" it's supposed to be.

And which model carb was this spring for, the 78-79 or the 80-81 series!?

        legth

Apparently the final words were not as FINAL as you thought eh! As for measurement I am not sure what a legth is either. I cant really tease you about spelling though as I had quite a few mistakes of my own on here before re-reading it.

Sorry for the missing details (and spelling that has been repaired). The measurement was for 80's carb springs. The spring was only around $14. I imagine the 70's springs (if still available) would be similarly priced if someone else wanted to bite the cost for the purpose of forum knowledge. I would love to do the resistance tests but not sure I am sufficiently equipped.
