  • Will this fit?

Will this fit to replace my gas cap gasket on my bike? It doesn't look anything like what's currently on there but if it will fit I really want to get it.

If you don't own a fire extinguisher, do me a personal favor and go purchase one... immediately.

The OEM p/n for the 81 Special fuel filler gasket is 2M0-24641-00-00. That eBay one has a different p/n. I believe mikes XS has one that will fit.

        Hi Carl,
in my experience all XS650s and all XS11s have the identical gas cap rubber seal. MikesXS seal also fits the XS11. My best guess is, that e-bay seal will work for you.
The trick is installing the bastard.
Take out the 3 screws in the seal face and toss them, they do nothing useful.
Remove the lock and pry out the inner metal strap that holds the seal.
Turn the strap to see the single E-ring that keeps the seal in place.
It may be all rusty, if so, use your favorite penetrating oil on it.
Pry the E-ring off the seal mounting stub and the old seal and the stub will fall free.
Take the old seal off of the stub and replace it with the new one.
        Reassemble.
