becasue of my impatience i tore the oil pan gasket. any way I can still use it without having it leak? I'd rather not spend the $100 for a gasket set.

I wouldn't use it just on principle, cause I don't like to do the work over again. You can buy a sheet of gasket material and use the one that you tore as a template thereby creating your own. Most auto stores have this gasket material.

Go to your local Yamaha daler and ask for a:
2H7-13414-00-00 gasket, strainer cover
This is the oil pan gasket and should be available as a separate item. Don't remenber what I paid for mine, bought it from Zanotti along with some other items.Jerry Fields

Go to your local hardware store... you can get gaskets by the pound. You dont need the thick one. The thinnest should do. Should cost you under 5$. The downside is, you have to cut em out yourself. Not a biggie. Place the oil pan upside down on the gasket, outline the oil pan and the bolt holes, draw the inner outline by hand, punch out the holes first, then cut out the inner outline, then the outer one. Takes a bit of patience, but it's the fastest and cheapiest way. I got all home made gaskets, except the cyl. head one... I guy I know made that one... the metal rings press...

PS: My NEW left side crank oil seal is leaking... so did the old one. I have no idea how come... but it leaks. And I don't like it.If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

I know I vaguely remember about replacing crank seals on cars, that the crank shaft/main pulley shaft/ can get worn, or galled, and so even after putting a new seal on, there might have been a small groove in the crank so that it isn't pressing/sealing against the rubber of the seal properly allowing oil to leak. I think I even remember possible sleeve kits for some for just this reason!? Are you sure it's leaking around the crankshaft/seal mating surface, or could it be from around the base of the seal and the case!? Sorry I don't have a suggestion for a fix, otherwise! Good Luck.
