  • Vetter horn kit?

I got a great deal on a set of used Fram two tone horns last weekend and I would like to install them in my Vetter fairing. A couple of months ago there was a Vetter horn kit on Ebay. Does anyone have the brackets or pictures of the brackets and horns so I see if my these horns will work and I can copy the brackets, or if you have a set of brackets you want to part with let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

On my 80G, the stock horns are mounted to the Vetter mounting bracket that the fairing mounts on.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Thanks!, but I'm referring to the horn kit that Vetter sold as an option with their later fairings, with built in turn signals like the SS. they went inside the fairing, behind the louvers beside the turn signals.

Mine is the type IV, with the built-in turn signals, like the SS.

Of the hundreds of Vetter fairings I've seen over the decades, I don't remember ever seeing one with built in horns.

I've seen the Vetter stereo setups ( at least 3 different ones) the Vetter radar detector setup, and Vetter cruise control, but horns is a new one.

Wouldn't surprise that he made one for his fairings though

          Vetter Horn Kit?

I have a Vetter with the horn option in my shed. I will have a look to see how it is rigged up.
In the mean time, Give this link a shot www.craigvetter.com .There are still alot of parts available for the vetter fairings and more information than you might want to know.

Crazcnuk! If you look at the back of the fairing, down in front of the forks on each side you will see a pair of dimples, these are where they drilled the holes for the screws that hold the horn brackets. the horns pointed out through the louvers, which you had to cut out yourself, or you bought new covers with the lovers already cut out. You can change the light covers with out buying the whole light, because they are only stuck on with double sided tape Thanks LuckyEddie! I've shopped on that website before, nice people, great service, but they don't list the horn kit. All the kit is are two brackets, wiring, horns, and boots that go between the horns and the lovers to keep the weather out. If I need to I can make everything myself, but it would help to see how the brackets are laid out.

              Neat.

Another one of those 'rare' options, I guess.

When I had my Kaw 1100 with the vetter, I bought the Fiamm horns and was able to fabricate the brackets to mount them in the fairing pretty easy. I have the same horns on my XS and the same fairing but have been too lazy to mount em inside.

There is a 'lot' of parts on Ebay right now that includes a pair of the signal light housings with open louvres.

Doesn't look like there are any horn mounts though.

Mine are located inside the fairing, seems to me that there is a metal "L" bracket that holds them there. Almost like a small shelf bracket. Four feet of snow between me and the bikes but if you need, I will get pictures.

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

That's ok DragonTamer, I'm not desperate enough to ask for that big a sacrafice, at least not yet anyway, but thanks for the offer.

I may have a copy of the mounting instructions for this option. I'll take a look for it tonight and see if it has an exploded parts view. That may help you.

Just remembered, I had removed one of the horns last fall to redo some wiring in the fairing and it is still laying on the bench.

Thanks man! My horn is a little different, but I think it's do-able.

                              Vetter Horn Kit

                              wa407mpp,

I made it out to the shed this weekend to scope out the horns. I had to remove them to get a good look at them. After getting them out, I was thinking thay I have no intention of ever putting the Vetter back on my bike. If you would like, I can offer them to you , for say, $40. OR. I can ship them to you and you may fabricate a set and then return them to me. Your choice.
