    bought a hand crank (winch), a couple small tow ropes, and a 4x4 at menards.

    turned front wheel left and locked it. wired the centerstand so it didn't retract at an inconvenient time.

    I connected one tow rope straight from the frame to the ceiling then used the winch to lower the bike down until the tow rope was tight.

    then wrapped the other tow rope around the engine and lifted it out. the nice thing about having the wheel locked is I could easily roll the bike back and forth which will probably help out a lot when it comes time to put it back in.


    took me a little over an hour. much easier than i expected. hopefully putting it in will be as easy.
