  • Exhaust: Difference Sport and Midnight

    Hi
My XS have 4 into 1 exhaust, with good sound. But, i want to change it, for the original exhaust (5K7), hard to find in Europe. I saw that that of Midnight looked like a lot. Do you think that is identical? The id model Midnight is XS1100 RH 5N5 ?
    Thanks !

Assuming that a "Sport" is similar to a Special, the Midnight exhaust should fit.

Good luck finding a MNS exhaust. I think they are the most rare (at least here in USA)

Pat is right I've been triing to locate a right hand stock midnight muffler for my lg for years with out luck...you can get a 79 thru 81 regular special exhaust system and have it powder coated black or run it with the chrome finnish..

Pat thanks for posting a pic of your midnight, I had been triing to find a windshield that looked good on mine and when I saw yours I knew that it was the answer, hope you don't mind me coping yours Larry R.

My project bike is a midnight special 1100, it has black 4 to 2 stock exhaust. Why is it so rare? Is that the exaust you guys are reffering to?

Sure looks like it,, But here in the U.S. they only made 1,500 in 80 and another 1,500 in 81. 82 M/N maxiums were different.
sounds like pproduction in Europe was much higher.

Yamaha quit producing them long ago and rust took out most of the rest.

Bear are you looking to sell yours I' m still looking for one for the right side?

                  Windshield

Does anyone know what type of windshield I can use on a 79 standard. It has a rectangle headlight. I am looking for something small and sporty. I the pic above the UK Sport version has a sporty shield. Does anyone know what that is? Thanks

You hijacked the fellah's exhaust thread...... you'd be better off posting a new thread for this...

James, that was his 3rd post. Give the noob a break.

Rev, I have a good friend that has a fairing similar to that on his 79 standard. I'll ask him what it is.

I am....I'm just letting him know so he gets best response to what he's looking for. It wasn't a value judgement or a criticism...

I've seen exactly what he's after only a couple of days ago and am presently scouring my files trying to find it. A nice little nose fairing with oblong for XS11 headlamp...

A nose fairing from a GPZ900 Kawasaki will probably do it.....
