Lowering the rear, what brand to look for?

... I took off the gas tank 1/2 full. I drained the fuel by the petcocks. one only leaked fuel by going to "reserve". the other one only drains by going to "primary". shouldn't they both work the same?

yes they should work the same. BTW it ain't "primary" it's "prime".
The prime position lets fuel through the tap when there is no vacuum sucking on the tap diaphragm like when the engine is stopped or the tank is removed.
So neither tap should have drained on "reserve" and both taps should have drained on "prime"
