i'm going to price new parts at the local dealer and want to make sure i know what I need. From THIS diagram I think the parts I need are #23 & #26. Is this correct? And the spacer everyone talks about would be #24?

and a 2nd quick question.
anything else to look for when I have it apart? I know people have had issues with first gear. would that be #15? -

Along with #15 you would need #19=4th gear, cause you see that is how these things work, 5th gear meshes with 2nd gear and it's the dogs/slots of one and the other that are not meshing, same for 1st gear and 4th gear, so to cure both the 1st gear and 2nd gear malady, you need to replace all 4 since 2 mesh with each other!! That gets kinda expensive, that's why I did the dremmel fix on both of my sets of gears on my 81 and it's working just great 2 years later!!! And that is the washer spacer, but I put mine back in stock configuration, and no problems!! YMMV, good luck!
