Not much difference. I've used 5W before and the difference between that and 10W is noticable, but not by much.

      Hi Wiz,
I don't see the difference between 7W & 10W fork oil changing the handling in any serious or hazardous way. I have seen many a thread where riders say "I always use X, its the best and only X will do." Thing is, X varies from 10W30 engine oil to ATF to ordinary fork oil to the fancy synthetics.

Is there any noticable diff. if 1 or 2 or more oz. of oil were added to the forks on a standard? You know, more oil-less air.

and Thx for the replies, everyone .... I used the 7W and haven't got to ride yet ... may be a week as the storms are stacked for days out to sea.

The forks should be slightly stiffer with more oil. The air pocket will compress faster.

Lighter oil makes the suspension 'faster' or for most of us softer.

There are little orifices in the forks, the faster the oil goes through them the softer the suspension.

You can compensate by adding slightly more air pressure, if you have air forks.

Too much oil, or air makes the suspension harder very quickly.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...
