Well.. good luck. They say the third time's the charm, ya know!

"Whoa!! You got a nitrous bottle on that thing!?" "Nope.. fire extinguisher.."

I don't know your money situation, but I would look into either a bore and new pistons, or a replacement motor. You may be able to bring that one back to life.. but it will probably never have great compression.

I'd say that unless its got some sort of sentimental value that you'd be better off buying a new bike, keep your eyes open and you can pick up a xs for a couple hundred bucks that will cost a lot less to fix then one thats been on fire twice.

It sounds to me like it's time to open the motor up to see what's the cause of the excessive friction. You may get it to start and run, but you may cause more damage also.
Pulling the head off of one of these is not a big deal. look for melted parts on top of the piston and scoring on cylinder walls.
Removing the oil pan is easy also, look for parts and peices laying in the bottom. Another clue= look for excessive metal pits floating in the oil.

But then again this could all be caused by the starter goining bad. Easy to check, remove all spark plugs, put bike in 5th gear and push the bike forward. It shouldn't give to much resistance (but I guess you would have to own another good running XS11 to know just how much resistance).
        Good luck
