i have the front end of a xs650 (forks, brakes, rim) can install it on my xs11

  • #2
Seems to me I have heard/read that the 650 only had one rotor/brake up front. I would be VERY leary of losing any braking especially up front on these heavy bikes.

          Hi DGXSER,
only in North America. Anywhere else in the world the XS650 has dual front disks.
Even North American XS650s have lugs on the left hand fork lowers to attach a left-side caliper and their wheels are tapped both sides to fit dual disks. Just pry out the factory fitted plastic cover that keeps the crud out of the tapped holes to install the left-side disk.

            Too skinny!

            Hi Cafexs,
Don't fit 34mm ('77 & earlier) or 35mm (post '77) XS650 forks to an XS11 they are far too skinny even if you can make the steering stem fit. The XS11's stock fork tubes are too skinny to start with.
Post '77 XS650 calipers are a straight swap for XS11 Standard calipers. They will NOT work on an XS11 Special, the Special's front calipers are completely different.
Any year XS650 disk brake front wheel will fit. On '77 & earlier wheels the disks need to be swapped for XS11 disks. Post '77 front wheels fit disks and all.
