Just put in a new trans is there a break in time for it and if so how long

Thats a good question. I would think there is not really any break in period if you only changed the trans since most of the movement is rotating and not linear like say, a piston in a cylinder. At least not any break in period like you would have if you installed new piston rings or something like that.
Still, I might take it easy for a few miles varying my speed until I know everything is right.

SO what exactly do you mean by "New transmission"?
Did you replace everything new, or used stuff? What all did you do?

Yep, I agree. When I do a trand rebuild, I tend to take it a little easy for a short while just to make sure things are shifting properly, then I let her rip. Doesn't hurt to do an early oil change, just to make sure of no left over contaminents. JMHO2H7 (79) owned since '89
