  • Name that (exhaust) tune?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-bLuHiG-z8

Does anyone know how to get my exhaust to sound like that? Thats the most perfect sound i can find without running straight pipes. Any help anyone? I'll trade my stock exhaust for a system that sounds like that one! Looken to get a sound very similar to that one. Anyw help?

I don't think it's a kirker cause i've heard da-bubbles in person and didn't think they sounded alike. Anyone know what the mac 4 into 2 exhaust sounds like? They sell them on denniskirk.com for like 330$. But i don't want to get them put'em on and find out i dont like them.

Or do you think the guy just made his own pipes and mounted some universal baffles in it?

Well any help would be appriciated. I really love that bike and it sounds awesome! Hopefully somone knows what exhaust is on that thing.
Yes it's a damn nice bike, yes it's in REALLY good condition, yes it would be a shame to chop it, BUT damn how cool would it look with ape hangers?

Those look to be home made. I think they may be the original header pipes with a strait through two to one on each side. There may be some type of baffle or glass-pack insert, but with a through hole of some diameter.

Well I couldnt tell from the vid what they are but I know what they sound like to me. They sound like stock exhaust with holes drilled in the rear plate of the myffler around the exhaust hole. The original exhaust I had way back when I picked up my machine back in 1980 had holes drilled by the PO. Sounded exactly like that. Gave it a sputter like his has too.

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

That link should send you to a picture of the side of the bike in the daylight. It looks like a factory exhaust system to me. I'm just not sure. I know it's got duals tho cause i've seen the pic's of it in the daylight. I just can't seem to find the owner or the builder of it. Anyways, if someone recognizes the exhaust or if it is in fact original i'd like to know that too. Thanks. Josh.

          Painting Chrome Exhaust

The bike has the exhaust painted black. Can you scuff the chrome and primer/paint with any ceramic paint, or do you need to remove the chrome entirely?

The "mufflers" are NOT factory. Factory mufflers are strait on the standards, and kick up but short on the specials. I think they are a slip on type muffler, probably with a 2" open glasspack.
The pictures show a CA plate, so it may be around Southern CA or the Bay Area. I'll keep my eyes open up here, and someone down South can keep one eye open. If we can find the bike, you will know what they are.
