That is an oil galley plug.IIRC, there is an "O" ring behind it to help seal. If it's not leaking, DO NOT REMOVE! Other members have had problems with the bolt head snapping off, stripping, etc. There is also a "plug" on the other side of the engine. It is held in place by the alternator cover. DO NOT RUN the engine with the right crank cover/alternator cover off!
