  • Singing testament to the Midnight Special

    Hey all,

    Been a while since 'ritin' but not long since ridin'

    I have recently crossed the threshold of diy XS1100LG ownership into a position where I feel almost compelled by the illusory constraints of time to throw money at a competent mechanic for the service of laying hands in good faith upon my pride 'n' joy. Fortunately I have recently been granted travel on the path to a shining example of an LG mechanical genius and am fiscally solvent. Will post later with my report on their labors for other folks in the Sonoma county area of northern California. If you are ever visiting the unincorporated county of Sonoma, know that our eyes are upon you ;^) so keep it in good faith

    With that in mind, I would like to post a chorus I sing to myself while I enjoy the purring hum and throttle of that shining black and gold. Send me a PM and I can arrange an audition of the melodies, :lol: and I am working out the verses.

    "Just talking about the Midnight Special.
    Shines a light on me

    And when I'm riding on that Midnight Special
    Ain't no cop'er gonna catch me

    So while we're talking about the Midnight Special
    Shine your lights on me, on me.

    Cause when I'm throttling my Midnight Special,
    Baby, you ain't even gonna see me."

    (repeat until journey commences)

    Aloha no na kupuna

    So if you can ride down to the crowded beach, I'm just a short ten miles South. I now have an LG in my stable as well, and enjoy riding it on nice days! The '79 standard is still my "daily ride".`
    PM me if you find the need for a ride, and special Ed and I may be able to oblige.

          Friends,

          I am posting these copyrighted lyrics under the tennants of good faith and fair use as my vocation has allowed me to understand them in the terms of our Laws on this earth. If you have a problem with this dissemination of copyrighted text I will happilly debate and reeducate your hysterical suppositions off-list. If you are unfamiliar with these polar tennants of civil liberty then I suggest you do the most cursory of researching through wikipedia.org and nowhere else on the internet before you renew your local county Library card. I appreciate greatly that this is not a public forum, yet in that I can publicly as an equal mem share my observations and knowledge while I am here, I say thank you.

          These are the original lyrics as easily retrieved from the internet. My humblest apologies for the fossil fuel toxins the storage and dissemination of this information invokes.

          "Well, you wake up in the mornin, you hear the work bell ring,
          And they march you to the table to see the same old thing.
          Aint no food upon the table, and no pork up in the pan.
          But you better not complain, boy, you get in trouble with the man.

          Let the midnight special shine a light on me x2
          Let the midnight special shine a everlovin light on me.

          Yonder come miss rosie, how in the world did you know?
          By the way she wears her apron, and the clothes she wore.
          Umbrella on her shoulder, piece of paper in her hand;
          She come to see the govnor, she wants to free her man.

          If youre ever in houston, well, you better do the right;
          You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all
          Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down.
          The next thing you know, boy, oh! youre prison bound

            thoughts on art and plagiarism

            Just to be precise, I am not trying to express the sentiments of the original lyrics. I do own a Midnight Special and it is shiny. Sometimes the headlight even shines on me. Privately, to me this also has resonance of a literal nature because once upon a time I was in a bad accident and had that terrible and mighty light shining right down on me. I can only thank the makers for mercury kill switches. That is why I am here to sing its praises. Not to rip off someone else from their rights accorded by the labors of their creative expression. I can not tell you how lame it felt, like literally as in taking away my legs, to have one of the first replies be to snark about the most obvious.

            So on with the deconstruction:

              critical analysis: intent vs. resistance

              In case you have trouble deciphering this intent, what I am creating out of that which there was nothing before is called an "ode" in the strictest sense as in I believe it was Bach "Ode to Joy" - joyful joyful we adore you. Y'know, Xmas n stuff? (I am no saint so I can not apo-logize for not being a christian but I was raised to be Christ like and suggest that you too read our Thomas Jefferson Bible regularly. You should give it a try at your local Library - it's free to the public! ISBN 0-8070-7714-3 and god bless America!)

              Right off the bat - and it has been years and years and years since I have let my self break out the CCR vinyl, so I really don't have any active recollection of this songs' subtler meanings. Creatively this is good for me, cause I can intuit my way to the finished product. I am heading towards the accolades of a joyful ode through strophe, antistrophe, and epode. Come along for the ride!

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ode

              Well, you wake up in the mornin, you hear the work bell ring,
              And they march you to the table to see the same old thing.
              Aint no food upon the table, and no pork up in the pan.
              But you better not complain, boy, you get in trouble with the man.
              As a grounding in the creative waters of crystalline logic in the economy of our biology these lyrics speak nothing to me anymore. They are, however, alike to the resonance of any small town American who has shed a tear in his beer thinking about his dead dad while listening to "Born in the U.S.A." I do like his contention, here, however, with the patriarchal Law of mankind.

              This speaks subtextual volumes to me. This is from where I gain inspiration - our commonality as terminated by language.

              yeah, yeah. I had to lay her down. I get the feeling he's singing about moonshine, tho?

              I am a big big big big fan of "clear springs" and everclear 190 Kentucky neutrail grain alcohols in the 190 proofs and use them medicinally to make tinctures in phase with then gravitas of our nearest orbital body, Lady Moonlight, best seen at Midnight.

              It is likely not appropriate on this forum, but ask me how if you live in California or other green friendly states and I can happily share with the alqemistry of very my successful and non D.E.A. scheduled acetylized Green Dragon rides. But I must warn against the two or four wheeles varietals.

              Yonder come miss rosie, how in the world did you know?
              By the way she wears her apron, and the clothes she wore.
              Umbrella on her shoulder, piece of paper in her hand;
              She come to see the govnor, she wants to free her man.[/i]
              Only the last line has any resonance for me along similar lines as before. My ancestors settled the Seattle and Portland area as methodists. I only bring this up cause I believe both are cities of refuge and Portland is the Rose city or something. This will be a useful imagistic metaphor to express the compassionate approaches to life which are mitigated by the more schizophrenic ones.

              If youre ever in houston, well, you better do the right;
              You better not gamble, there, you better not fight, at all
              Or the sheriff will grab ya and the boys will bring you down.
              The next thing you know, boy, oh! youre prison bound[/i]
              Ahhh, Texas. What can I say? I am no hysterically misguided numerologist or conspiracy theorist but I will likely only ever be caught dead riding through Dallas in the back seat of an open chauffered sedan. The Midnight Special is now invoking our 35th President of these United States of American and amongst all my kin, his fallen brother. My best wishes to sister Caroline in her bid with New York, god bless America!

                my testifying proclivities

                I haven't written any poetry in a looOOOOOoooooong while, but I am now working on song lyrics and (gasp!) singing them too - sometime even while riding! Only when I am alone deep in the forest do I like to practice singing the Star Spangled Banner - now that's some funny sh!t

                While I sit here in contemplative meditation by my woodstove amongst the unincorporated county connifers I will leave you with these other songs of mine, one in particular which uses the "midnight" as an entendre, implying both the solar illusion and our motorcycle. Hopefully you will see how these expressions of mine will inform the song I am working on now.

                This is a song i can't stop singing when i have insomnia. When I work out the melody on my piano and make a recording I am gonna dedicate it to my baby's mama:

                "Starf***er in 4/4"

                There are so many stars
                in the sky @night
                that you will never
                you will never
                see.

                Unless you leave the city, baby
                Leave those city lights behind

                Well there are so many
                All those stars you know
                And when they come out @night, baby
                the memories they'll show

                Well there are so many stars
                in the sky @night
                that you will never
                you will never
                seek.

                Unless you leave the city baby,
                leave those city lights behind.

                Yes there is so much to learn-
                about
                "learning"
                Oh there is so much, there is so much too ...no.

                And if you leave the city, baby
                leave those city lights behind
                I think that you will truly be amazed
                @who and what you find.

                (repeat until dead)

                This one's dedicated to a buddy of mine who didn't come back and his lady who wishes he did.

                Dear Kristina

                Dear Kristina
                She's a real sweet gal.
                I'll bet you'd never guess
                How her lover was killed
                By the side of a road
                When a mine did explode
                And dear Krisitina's lover was no more

                Oh the horrors of war
                There'll always be more
                So long as we're told
                Something's worth killing for

                Dear Kristina
                She's a real sweet gal
                I'll bet you'd never guess
                How her husband was killed
                By the side of a road
                A marine did explode
                And dear Kristina's lover was no more

                Oh the horrors of war
                They'll always be more
                So long as we believe
                Something's worth dying for.

                Oh dear Kristina
                She's a real...
                Sweet...
                Girl...

                In this next song, "upon the Midnight" is an entendre and I am specifically referring to the solar illusions we call the time of day and my 1980 1102cc D.O.H.C. black and gold XS1100LG Yamaha, "Midnight Special" motorcycle. But no, I am not a pimp `:^D

                Baby Doll

                Baby
                Doll
                I know that you have heard it all
                From me be-
                Fore
                But just wait a minute
                Before you walk out that door

                And look into your heart.
                Tell me what you see
                No matter how much it hurts, Babe
                I know that I'll find you looking back for me upon the Midnight

                Just look into your heart
                Tell me just what do you seek?
                No matter how much it hurts, Babe
                I know that I'll find ya looking back at me across the moonlight

                Baby
                Doll
                I know that you have heard it all
                From me be-
                Fore
                But sometimes a pimp
                Has got to smack down his whore

                And look her in the eye
                Tell her bitch this is why
                You stand your ass out on the
                Street corner through the cold
                From the middle of the night
                And make me
                Green money
                So that I
                Can buy
                The drugs
                We both
                Like.

                p.s. albeit an important one, copyright is a myth and "fair use" my name, however, if you pass off my words as your own in bad faith and as any result of that interest on the capitol of my creative labor you hapen to either get laid or make a buck and don't send some ****ing love my way then the next time i am in your immediate near field for data acquisition I will reeducate the ever loving tar out of you. Organizing principles

                  This song I am working on is literally the result.

                  What is the result when an immoveable object meets an unstoppable force.

                  If you noticed that the last sentence was not a question, then you will aprreciate this schizophrenic lightning of formulaeic reasoning:

                  where
                  t=time,
                  Ω=resistance and impedence,
                  ≥=greater than or equal to
                  Y= wei, wie, i fergit how it is spelled but meant as in delta and wie in the engineering sense and also as in, "no way!"
                  π=Pi, 3.14159...entropy and also, "pie"
                  µ = you, dummy, in all your infinitesimilities.
                  Then my formulation to unravel the spagetti noodles of time which are all in our minds collectively all the time, but never in any one's for any considerable quantity ;-)
                  (My only regret in this symbolic representation is that the lower case "t" symbol didn't have the "j" hook. just a "jc" thing, lol!) (go read the Jefferson Bible ISBN 0-0807-7714-3 and laugh along with our forefathers - forgoe the "four" fathers of the King James version of anthropological conjectures)

                  t=Ω≥Yπ

                  and if you implement this:

                  t=Ω≥Yµπ

                  so that Yµπ<Ω

                  then πµΩ=Yµ/t

                  or

                  Ωπ=Y/t

                  and t=0, :lol:

                  or, in the vernacular:

                  time is resistance greater than or equal to wie multiplied by pi, also expressing why pie?

                  if you implement time as resistance greater than or equal to wie multiplied infinitesimally by the endlessly repeating and entropic pi, also expressing, "why you pie" so that

                  why you pie is less than the force of impedence, in other words, why you pie, whatever your internal and entropic reasonings might be, they will never be in stasis with the objective force of resistance to you expressing those reasonings and they will always be subjective. It is noteworth to distinguish that subjective is not subordinate, but why you pie will always be quantifiably, not qualitatively, less than the impedance.

                  so then resisting pie equals wie metered throughout and in time.

                  pie you resist equals why you are "divided" by time

                  remove yourself from the equation and this imperfect formulation of "midful practice" - in time - allows you to see the illusion of our experience:

                  We negate time when we laugh.

                  or

                  It is when an immoveable object, an object stuck in inertial trajectory, like a banana cream pie cooling on the window sill is met by an unstoppable force, the unstoppable force of resistance - the biologically counter-intuitivity to not eat that delicious deliciousness - either gets you stuck in that polarized and schizophrenizing inertia, or if you so choose to laugh at the interaction and accept them as one and the same, that the polarity is an illusion mitigated by how you are able to experience time, you will realize that time only exists in your mind.

                  Do not attempt to know this as any kind of chem-istry for living, al qemical, al quaedical or other. For you can not know anything but the polarities of truth. To truly be one with truth, you must believe in it actively with you time on this planet. If, however you can acheive the belief in it, then you can reverse time. Time, of all the physical constituents we can meter and analyze, it is the only one which is linear and intransmutable. Most prefer to hysterically deny their culpability to and ultimate negation in "time" Just stick to the shining lights of reason which have been blazing wildly since Leonidas' three hundred withstood Xerxes at the hot gates in Thermopylae. Noteworthy, this human endeavor sentimentalized by christian military and industrializing democracies included much more of a collective effort than a mere three hundred warriors. That human endeavor, of course like all human endeavors up until very recently, also commonly discludes from record each Spartans constituency of slaves, around 15 for each citizen. That "city zen"ry of about 4500 bipedal mammals equally equipped with oppossable thumbs, schizm inducing frontal lobatures and the ability to reason morality through language, music and arithmetic would puke on what we call democracy today.

                  The formulae above is the key to reversing the inertias which appear either immoveable or unstoppable in your labors upon this earth

                  Please remember: what appears like magic from within the centrifuge is usually just the mundane gravitas of inertia (in an entropic universe - e=mc2) and very unsentimentally obvious to those external to the spinning. Centrifugal force is a myth. If you are mystified by the illusions of time and feel that you can either never get ahead, or that you never have enough time, conside this:

                  Human experience of life is like the truth is as to the water.

                      I still listen to CCR, and most older rock and roll, I just am NOT a wordsmith.
                      I am sorry for any miss-communication that has resulted, but my big song has always been "Midnight Rider". Chose it about 6 weeks before E.T.S. from Ft. Bragg, NC as I was going into truck driving.

                        Midnight Rider,

                        LoL - me too, still got my CCR on vinyl

                        Don't worry about it - I can be a real hot house flower

                        Aloha!

                        p.s. it is also of note that the Battle of Thermopylae is often looked at while ignoring the much more impressive naval battles.
