Are the head light and blinkers are all on the same circuit?

I just want to know if the head light and blinkers are all on the same circuit. Will the head light not work correctly if the blinkers are wired incorrectly? OR vise versa?

Problem: The head light will not turn on - I did hard wire the head light to see if it was good, which it is and I have wired all the blinkers (which I think are correct but they are not working correctly).

From what I have experienced (and someone with more experience may correct me) either the reserve lighting unit or the charging circuit are the likely culprits. When mine didn't work it was the regulator/rectifier. Is your tach working? While both the lights and tach are triggered by the alternator they are on different windings and the rectifier triggers, so one can work and the other not, but if either is not working you MAY not be charging.

Generally, not related except neither will operate if the main switch is off.

It is a 1980G xs 1100. The tack it self works but now to think of it, i do not think the lights come on in the tack or speedo.

So because i do not have a volt meter is there a way to test or know if the reserve lighting unit, the charging circuit, or the regulator/rectifier are working correctly or not?

Is the charging unit just the alternator or does it include more?

If you are going to fix electrical problems, you WILL NEED a VOM. Even a cheap, $5.00 one will work! try looking in the cheap tool bins at the local auto parts store, or in the local tool or hardware store.

Hit the nearest Harbor Freight Tools store. They sell a small digital unit for around ten bucks that does almost the same things my $130.00 Fluke meter could do. Plus it is smaller and lighter. Good unit for the travel tool box.

                Check the headlight relay.
You can jump it out with the blue and yellow I think.
The relay is up under the front of the tank, unplug it and connect the blue to the yellow. Lights should come on with the switch.
