  • "Silver Grey Wolf"

Just over admiring Bob Jones's bikes on Merriam Cycles' website. Lusting after the mans skills and thinking about his work and noticed a completely different master cylinder on the "Silver Grey Wolf".
Does anyone recognize where it came from? Does it have a Yamaha pedigree?
If Bob liked it well enough to have one on his bike I will be looking for one when I get to that point on my SF.

    Thanks for the look,

    Rodger

Thanks. I saw the photo of the mastercylinder after I put up the post.

What I didn't find was a brand or a source. I was hoping someone in the XS11 group here had one and could tell me where it was made. I doubt that they were made exclusively for Merriam Cycles. Now that they are closed it is doubtful they could supply one. Looks like no one here has that particular aftermarket piece on their bike.

        Hey Rodger,

Have you looked thru MikesXS brake MC's, they have a decent collection with different styles. They have one with a round reservior, not remote but it's still round and has a 22mm bore/piston vs. the 16mm, designed for dual caliper systems. A larger bore will push more volume per stroke, with the stroke being a shorter distance, which can actually provide a lesser "feel", whereas a smaller bore requires more stroke distance, but better "feel"/control. Don't forget the SS lines!!

          Thanks T.C.

I just got back from a business trip to San Diego.

I may have found somone who builds Stainless brake lines. Need to do some research but it may be a less expensive source for them.

Anyone in the San Diego area heard of "Industrial Surplus" on Convoy off of Balboa? They had a bunch of Stainless lines laying on one of their counters for a newer model Yamaha (sorry I can't remember which model) for $10 ea. I had to ask about building brake lines with the same sort of ends on them and they said "no problem". I am going to measure and get a quote from them after Christmas. It appears they make all sorts of braided stainless covered lines.

I was way off in my last post here.

The name of the shop is Industrial Liquidators. Located at 4887 Convoy St. San Diego, Ca. (858-278-3455). My sales slip shows a store at 6520 Nancy Ridge Dr. in San Diego as well. (858-658-9207)

They also list a store on 14611 Hawthorn Blvd. in Lawndale, Ca. (310-644-9207)

I'm 7-1/2 hours from their door. So, I won't be there any time real soon. If there are any XSers close by you might want to take a look.
