    K&N 2into1 pods

I had the K&N 2 into 1 pods on my bike. They are larger than single pods and have a large flat area that spans the 2 carbs. When washing the bike or riding in the rain water would collect on top of these filters and saturate the oiled cotton gauze. This would have an effect like the choke was partially on and you could feel the bike surging. You had to pull the clutch in and rev the motor several times to clear the filter out before it would run right again. This was my expierence with the style pod filters I was running.

I had first put on those cylindrical foam UNIFILTER pods on mine, and then rode to Penn. one XS East rally....IN THE RAIN!! I ran it for many hundreds of miles on the highway, and thankfully they performed just fine.

On a return trip from an XSeast rally one summer, I got caught in a deluge of a summer rain. I'm not sure if it was the pods possibly getting soaked, or just the extra cool water cooling the engine down so much that it did act like it would want to bog a little. During one light stop, I reached down and compressed them....they have these big coiled inner springs, and once I rung the outer pair out, it seemed to run better, but it never cut out on me anyways!

I've since put on the cone shaped filters instead. I don't worry about getting caught in the rain, but I'm a bit of a fair weather rider now anyways....age will do that to you!

So...I would say depending on the design of the pods, there may be a tendency or chance that they could possibly get a little bogged with water, but I don't think they'll cause any damage to the engine.

you can do what you like... i never said to put it in a lake??? i said cars that have the large kn style filter out in front will suck up enough water if it's submergen in water.

it's a proven fact that pod filters can get wet with no ill effect. if you choose to beleive the earth is flat go ahead... but don't wine because noone else has problems with getting them a little wet.

          Pod filters

I like to pressure wash my pod filters . I also like to pour water in my carbs when the bike is running because this will just steam clean the inside of my engine. It is also known as water injection, makes your bike run even better you know!! These are all proven facts!! I have owned 64 motorcycles in the last 27 years and have run pod filters on everyone and have drove across the bottom of the atlantic ocean and never got one drop of water in my engine. I know everything

If you go with pods, you should change your jet size accordingly or it will just be a waste of money and the bike will not perform as good as the stock air box configuration. And if your afraid of getting water in the pods, like me, when washing your bike, use small grocery store plastic bags and wrap them around the pods. I just use two of them, one per pair of pods. I stick half on the outer pod, twist, put the other half on the inner pod and tuck in the excess between the two of them. Also depending on what pods you go with, EMGO pods restrict the airjets, you may get poor performance unless you modify them to eliminate the restrictions. And I don't know everything, I learn as I go.......... and from people on this site.

                Pods o.k.

I run K@Ns on mine- no ploblems rain or shine. I'm not into complicated and thats what the stocker is- COMPLICATED! Its also nice to have instant access to the carbs. I guess its just a matter of what you like- and what you are able to live with. Just my Dos Centavos.

if you want to act like a butt go ahead. i was not trying to i was only saying that just because you have problems with it doesn't mean everyone will and you acted like the other guy was dumb for doing it.

also i have only owned umm ??? 92 ninja zx7... 79xs750 special...82 kawasaki gpz 750... 98 yzf600r, 85 vmax... 86 radian...82xj11... and fianlly 79 xs11 standard. of those i had pods on 5 of them. only one that gave me problems was the 750 special. they were the emgo pods and it stumbled alot during acceleration.
and i wasn't trying to be a know it all but water injection does exsist. read about and stop being a dick. i wasn't trying to attack you, also if you had the dual pods i think they are covered with foam right??? if so they will smother your carbs kinda like if i were to soak a wash rag in water and tie it around your mouth... you would not be able to breath. the regular pods don't work like that.
