  • Fork Tubes

    Greetings,

I am in need of a set of fork tubes for my 1980 XS1100LG. This bike sat outside for many years under a tarp and the tubes are badly rusted.
The dimensions for them are 37mm X 693mm.
I would like a good used set as opposed to investing in a new set at this time.

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance in this matter.

    Forks

Any set of forks off a 79-81 Special should work. Just make sure you don't get the Standard forks, as they are different. If you have a Midnight Special, the lower fork legs are probably black, where the regular Specials are polished aluminum. The upper fork tubes are easily switched if you wish to retain the black lowers, or just leave them togeather and swap the entire fork assembly. Ebay has a few sets now or try member Andreas. Just make sure the set you're looking at has the leading front axle (Special).

      Fork Tubes

Yes it is for the Midnight Special.
The lower part is fine. I am just looking for the chrome tubes that go inside.

      Thanks.

        Hi Lucky Eddie,
if this list can't find you a used pair of fork tubes, try these guys:-
        http://www.frankmain.qpg.com/
for the nice shiny new ones they build.
As I remember, a few pennies less than $100 a pair.

          Hey Fred,

What decade did you buy them in??

When I bought a set from Frank in 2000 they were a touch over $200.00 for the pair, but I also ordered 4" over length.

Hey Eddie, you might have to settle for a set of uppers and lowers since most folks parting them out don't/won't bother breaking them apart!

I bought new fork tubes from Z1 Enterprises to my CB 1000 C , they shipped them fast to Norway where I live. I guess they also can get you fork tubes for your LG.
            Good luck

              Fork Tubes

              Greetings,

This past weekend, while getting parts for one of my GL1000's in South Bend, IN., I was very pleased to find that they had an XS1100 that was being parted out. As a result, I now have the fork tubes that I needed.
Thanks for all the assistance given in this matter.
