  • Cleaning my nuts

Is it safe (without a chance of doing damage to head gasket) to remove head nuts one at a time to clean and or buff? As long as i retorqe accordingly.

Yes, you can do that.I replaced mine the same way, one at a time. Do it with the motor cold. Consider replacing the nuts instead of cleaning them.

I ordered some chrome nuts from here..

        http://www.dmpolish.com/catalog.php?...0880f160eb374a

It's been since May since I put them on and they still look great.

I have also found some here for $1.55 instead of that $2.88, but can't vouch for them since I haven't tried them. Scan down to the M10X1.25 acorns.

I also had some nickle plated by a local place. He didn't charge me anything after I talked to him for a while. They look a lot better than they did, but the chrome ones listed here look better.

And just as a side note, remember to put some light oil on the threads, and the nuts so that you're measuring true torque values, not friction resistance values. And they are usually done it 2 stages, to ~15, and then to the final 25lbs, however that's for evenly pulling down the entire head, but with just doing one at a time I would think you could run them down to the 25lbs in one shot. I don't think you'll be removing the 2 on the bottom side at the timing chain tunnel area, but they are only 14 lbs anyways!
