    Can xj 1100 withfull charge be pushed and then popped in 2nd to make it run? Any damage poetential to starter, clutches etc?

    No problems.. Have fun! lol. Yeah, use 2nd gear. 1st will just lock up the rear.

      You can push start, but the manual warns against extended coasting as the tranny isn't getting lubed when the engine isn't running. Too much and it can damage the trans.
      I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

        I was under the impression that if the battery is too low, push starting will do no good. If the charge is too low it will not spark. At least that is what I thought. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

          You are half correct. If the voltage is below say 10.5V, push starting probably wont work. On the other hand, if the voltage is say 11.5V, the starter motor won't have enough juice to crank the engine, but a push start in 2nd gear should fire her right up. As long as voltage is higher than 10.5 at the TCI, it should work.
