I have had a lot of trouble with the wiring, and I noticed that the right control switch only has 3 wires coming out of it, whereas it plugs into a plug with 5 wires. I know that some wires are dead and don't do anything, but I was wondering I have see some xs11's that have a lights on/off switch. This one doesn't, but the PO rigged up a starter switch....And I have red/white wire dangling from the TCI. I need to trace all the red/white wires and see whats up. but I was really wondering whether all the 1978 xs11e had this option or not. Anybody know? thanks.

Legendjet - Here's a link to an 80g schematic, I know it's not the same year, but maybe it will help. http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...ight=schematic
My '79F has the on-off switch for the headlight. It controls the headlight when the ignition is on and the motor isn't running. Doesn't seem to do anything when it is running - light's always on then, regardless of switch position.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Here's a link to a couple of wiring diagrams I scanned, one from the Haynes manual and the other from Clymers, both are for the E. It does look like they have 5 wires and a switch, but I haven't really seen an E up close so I don't know firsthand.
