Does anyone know if powder coating can be done over bondo? Does it have to be a metal piece to work on only. Can it be done safely on plastics such as side covers? I wish to paint some of my bike parts and am thinking they may last better if coated instead. Any Ideas

Rasputin:
Since powder coating has to be cured in an oven approximately 350 degrees F., it will deform most plastic parts. The principal of the process is to connect a charged current to the part and the other lead to the spray gun. A dry powder is blown toward the part and an electrostatic field is around the part attracting the powder to the part. The charged field keeps the dry powder attached to the part and the part is then baked in an oven to melt the plastic powder making it adhere to the part as a baked on finish. It is very difficult to get a current to flow in a non metallic part to set up an electrostatic field, i.e., metal only in most cases.
