  • can't use x-ref in Ver 4.0 CD

I have tried to use the X-REF in the Ver 4.0 XJCD and only get a black screen with a large white box in the center. What am I doing wrong?
I have tried in Microsoft Inernet explorer and Firefox to no avail. I have Java enabled in both. Help.
I purchased a final drive for the XJ swap on E-Bay and the wrong drive arrived. Marked 2H700 description was a XS750 Drive which should have worked, I guess. Maybe I was buying the wrong drive!
Anyhow I have $30.00 in it and returning will only get me the $15.99 back but I will spend that mailing it back.
So-- I can re-list it on E-bay and recoup some, but then I still don't have the right drive for the swap. HELP

    Hey Dell,

The cross reference on the UK site shows that the final drive housing with the 2H7 is the early model XS11's, the later 81 uses the 4R0 prefix, same as the XJ.

The 750 is supposed to have the 1J7 prefix!

Can't help you with the XJCD, don't have that, just the Service CD.
IF you were wanting the 750 for the MOD change for the XJ, then you won't probably get it with the 2H7 model cause it's probably the same ratio as the XJ's!

Thanks TopCat. I know the ratio I have is 3.3:1, same as the XJ drive. Does anyone need or want and early XS drive, I have one cheap. with a shaft.

        X-Ref

        Dell
Sometimes I have trouble starting the X-Ref in XJCD v.4 . It certainly has to be done in a certain order. I thiink it has to do with allowing the program to run in the warning bar (IE 6) . After allowing this and answering yes to the dialogue box - I wait and it happens .
I entered that number as a part and as a code and got nothing .
There is a .pdf file for help under the X-Ref link .
        Hope this helps .

          Xref

Much improved after I loaded all cd's onto my harddrive and launched X-ref from there .

Iffin TC says I can make it work on a '79 Special, I'd be down for it.

I guess it doesn't work. Nevermind.

              Hey Silent,

Not sure what you were asking/questioning? What happened to Dell is that he ordered/won what was described as a 750 FD so that he could do the higher ratio swap to get better mileage, lower rpms cruise, etc.. The problem is that he received a FD with the model # 2H7, which made it the same as his XJ11 FD, and the same as an XS11 FD, with the same ratio, so it won't do him any good. The 750 final drive IS the drive folks are looking for, and the cross reference/microfiche revealed that it SHOULD HAVE the 1J7 prefix on it, IF it was a true 750 final drive. He was just offering his XS FD for someone incase they needed to replace their OEM and didn't want to get the 750 MOD!

Sorry for the confusion TopCat. I gathered after reading the post a few times that I was in error. First time I read the post I thought he had a 750 final drive that would only fit the early year XS11's. Then I figured out the numbers you had posted up and realized I was wrong, so I added the retraction to the post. Since by that time I'd figured out that it would be the same as what I already have and not the coveted 750 conversion.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread
