will a front brake master cylinder from an sf fit a standard an what years will fit A 1979 STANDARD CAN i use them all from 78-83??????????

It will fit, but the reservior on the SF M/C is tilted foward to compensate for the angle of the buckhorn bars, and the Standard M/C is more level. The SF M/C will fit, and work, but it sit at an odd angle on the bars. You know, most any M/C with an 11/16 or 5/8 bore will work on these bikes. It doesn't have to be made by Yamaha.

Yeah, that sloped reservoir m/c looks strange on a Special too, after you've trashed the rototillers in favour of sensibly shaped handlebars. We have two XS650 Specials, an XS750 Special and an XS11Special that all have the sloped reservoir m/cs mounted on sensible handlebars. You tilt the bars hard left to bring the m/c more nearly level to replace the fluid and you do get used to the look after a while.
