what size bars do i need? For my 79xs11sf?

Hey guys i've found a cool set of vintage Z bars on ebay for really cheap. And in good condition. There used but still not bad. What size bars do i need to look for? I think these said there 7/8. Will that fit my bike? I don't have a caliper so i can't get an accurate measurement on my bars but figured you guys would know. Let me know guys im waiting on an answer so i can get these. Thanks fellas.

Hi Bow,
most hardware stores will GIVE you a cheap nasty plastic 6" int/ext/depth/inch/metric caliper if you buy some stuff there.
Or spend $30 for a metal bodied electronic caliper. I like those
because although I know how to read a proper Vernier my aging eyes can't see the little lines any more. BTW almost all bikes that have tubular steel handlebars have them at 7/8" Outside Diameter. Except some Harleys run 1" bars and some 1940s/50s Triumphs had 1" bars swaged down to 7/8" on the right-hand end for a normal twistgrip and 1" bars look huge compared to 7/8" bars so you hardly need to measure them. But then there's BMW. Just to be effin' different, or perhaps to make you buy $100 BMW bars vs $25 generics if they need replacement, BMW bars are 22mm O.D. (7/8" = 22.2mm) And to measure that you need a caliper.
