Damn. While it wasn’t a puddle there was a spot under the bike. Seems to be coming from the #2 carb this time. Thought about pulling them out but it was a nice night and the moon was full so I went for a ride instead.

Looked at the float setting info that Marty and RiskBusines provided. Thanks for the help. My carbs do not have the float bowl nozzle, just a plug in the bottom of the float bowl. I did set the height on mine to .95” (24.1 mm) which is out of the 25.7 mm +/- 1 mm spec by .6 mm. If I thought that correcting that mistake would stop my leaks I’d pull the carbs again, but if that is the problem, why don’t all the carbs leak? It runs so good I hate to mess with it but I probably will once I get the time. May make up some type of fitting to look at the gas level like the info shows doing with the 80-81 XS’s.

Thanks to all for the help.

You do have an inlet for the gas, it is shut off by the float height needle. There might be a tiny scratch in that nozzle, or a piece of varnish, something that is stopping the float needle from sealing the gas flow. If that is where the gas is coming from.

It has been mentioned, but be careful the gas is not going into the crank case. When mine leaked that one spring for a few minutes, luckily I was parked on a hill and it dripped out the air cleaner and over the crank case and not into it.

If you took out the plugs in the bottom of the float bowls when you cleaned them, be sure they are sealed. You might be getting a slight drip of gas out of there.

There is probably a bunch more reasons....
