Ok my starter works fine when it is cold but when it heats up it drags bad and sometimes when I go to start the bike I have to lightly tap the side of the starter to get it to work. Can I get it rebuilt or do I have to get a new one.

Probably just needs to be removed and have the brushes replaced or maybe just cleaned up. It's not that big nor hard a job Joey. You often see them on ebay for around 10 bucks as well.Originally posted by JOEY View PostOk my starter works fine when it is cold but when it heats up it drags bad and sometimes when I go to start the bike I have to lightly tap the side of the starter to get it to work. I got one of these complete rebuild kits 2 yrs ago and couldn't be happier with the performance of the starter. I has every wear part except the armature in the kit. Contact them to be sure this exact kit is the one, but they will have what you need.
Ebay Item # 320008977814 (tried to post the link, didn't work)
Also, when you re-install the starter, make sure the engine mounts are CLEAN as well as the mounting ears on the starter itself, those are the points that are the ground connection. I even went as far as to run another ground from one of the starter mounting bolts to the frame, don't really know if it helped, but it feels good!
