  • How I installed the new fuse block on my XJ

    Hi,
Thought you might want to see how I installed the fuse panel on my XJ. I eliminated the backing plate and the Aux hookup all together. The Aux I can put back in if I need it and I can add additional brackets for it or relocate it elsewhere.
I straightened a small SS bracket I had laying around and used it to get the appropriate angle behind the side cover. After that, everything fell right into place at the correct angle.

Thanks for your help on this TC, I appreciate it.

Good idea. I have my new fuse block sitting there waiting for me to install it, but I haven't found any 90 degree wire terminals yet.
I know this, because Tyler knows this.

egleaves - Radio Shack has the right angle connectors. Even for the large ignition wire. I also used double shrink wrap because the one that fit over the end of the connector would not seal around the wire, so I put a piece in under the larger shrink wrap and heated them both.
Better yet, go to a marine supply place and buy the kind that has the shrink wrap already incorporated into the connector. Expensive but effective.

Randy - You gotta celebrate success, right? Besides that snorkel has to be good for something!!!!

Radio Shack you say? I tried one with no luck, but it was a small store in the mall. I'll swing by the big store later, maybe they'll have a better selection. Thanks.

I use ONLY the marine supply type connectors. You can get them with the shrink wrap already on, and it has a glue inside that WILL make the connection waterproof. Try to find a West Marine or any other marine supply store. You can get connectors in a two pack, or a 25 pack.
