  • no spark

OK, I am a idiot. I got the starter to turn with the button, but there was no spark, and it was pretty much hot wired, no key needed. I twisted together the 2 red with a white line wires together, and hooked them to the battery side of the solenoid. I had the bike running, but I couldn't turn it off with the key or the kill switch. Then it reved up on it's own, so I pulled all the plug wires off to stop the darn thing.

I figured out the blue & white line wire goes to the neutral light & switch. The red & white line wires go to the coils, and kill switch. I have a wiring diagram for the XJ1100 , but there is NO color code that explains what the colors are for the letters. Does anyone have a color wiring diagram for a 1982 XJ1100J?

All I want to do is sell the bike, but as it is it isn't worth a whole lot. I really don't want to part it out, (lots of work, and time). It would be a shame to part it out, it has a GOOD Wisconsin title, and the bike runs somewhat. I would get more partring it, But winter is about 6 weeks away here in Wisconsin, and...

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance!

Puzzled as usual with the XJ1100J motorcycle. I hate wiring problems!!!

    Dave,

I don't have an XJ but if you just need the color codes for the wiring you can find them at the bottom right corner of this schematic for a 1980G:-
