Fairing Vibrations

The fairing that TC and I mounted to my '82 Maxim has developed a vibration.Its noticeable at any speeds.It is amplified when going over bumpy roads/streets.I can see the windsheild and fairing shaking.I'e checked all the hardware and everything is tight...yet it still is not stable.Is this normal for the Windjammers?
Possibly could it be caused from the windsheild?Its 20.5" tall and abt 24'' at its widest.The screen has no vent holes so possibly the backpressure is adding to this effect.Should I try a shorter screen or buy a stock screen with the vents in them?

Check ALL the mount points!!! Your fairing MAY be cracking at the mounts if you didn't put rubber between the steel mount and the fairing. I used a rubber strip on each side, one above and one below the plastic. I then used the wider flat washer on top, to spread the force, That was a problem with two of the windjammers I tried, thus the reason for the '78 Pacifico as my fairing of choice.

Rubber

Spacers between the mount and the frame should help. Rubber washer behind the mount where bolts go to the frame and rubber washers backed up by washers under the bolt heads, plus a peice of rubber between the downtube and lower mounts and a peice of rubber under the clamps too. I tried rubber between the mount and the fairing bolts first and it made the fairing crack where the bolts went through, but the rubber under the mount worked better. Going down the freeway would make it vibrate as I passed from one concrete slab to another. Bumpity, bumpity all the time. With rubber mounts most of that went away. Now Caltrans has gotten into grinding the freeway smooth. I can't wait 'till they get them all done.

PS 1/8" thick is what I used.

Ray...rubber strips were used we made our own in between the bracket and fairng but not above it so....I will inspect the mount points more carefully...Thanks Ray

Also Thanks to planedick it looks like I'll have to add alot more rubber than is there now I'll have to take it all apart

fairing

on mine the the wiring inside the fairing made alot of noise pack my fairing with cold weather stuff noise went away latter did more lasting repair.

ps i made rubber for top of fairing and bottom of fairing and rubber washers fender washers on the bracket side it's
quiet now this all started when i got stock exhaust from roy. i never heard it before then.

Make sure the fairing mount has rubber strips between the mount and the frame. I had a Kaw 1100 Spectre with a Windjammer that would resonante like hell no matter what I tried. I finally filled the void behind the headlight, between the outer and inner shell with spray, expanding foam. Noise and vibration all went away. If you try this, make sure you run your wiring thru some plastic tubing first to facilitate future wiring fixes or mods.
