I need some front brake caliper seals for an '82 XJ1100. Any one got a source? Note: The XS1100 seals DO NOT work. I've checked PartsNmore and Old Bike Barn; they do not list a kit. I've also called a local MC shop...no joy, So I'm really getting desperate. Anyone got an idea? I can re-install my old ones, but I think I'm on borrowed time. Thanks.

The front caliper seals on an XJ1100 have two rubber rings; my outside ring is really worn. The caliper is NOT leaking but the piston is sticking. I've clean them the best I can; but I think some new seals would be in order. They must be available somewhere. I wonder if a seal company might have them. Stan'80 XS1100LG Midnight Special

I copied the below info from an old thread, you have to login but it may give you cross references. Dan

OK, the XS Part Number Finder website is now officially up and running.
It's got all the part numbers for the XS1100 E, F, SF, G, LG, H, SH, LH, the European version 2H9 and the European 'Sport' (5K7).
It's got most of the part numbers for the SG (but not all of them 'cos even the official Yamaha site doesn't have them).
Also has part numbers for the XJ1100 and the XS850LG.
The site has zoomable, microfiche 'parts explosion' diagrams for 12 models and you can call up two diagrams on screen to compare them.
I've recently added part prices and supplier details for 700 parts.
Now tell me what else you'd like !

Bike Bandit didn't have them either?
The drag you're getting could be caused by corrosion in the groove that the seals ride in. Try using a bent probe to lightly scrape the crap out. I've done this a few times and was able to reuse the seals.
Those seals probably interchange with something else but I don't know off the top of my head what seals you could use. I've used seals from the old SOHC CB750 Honda on a XS11 Standard model. The seals were the same but the rest of the kit was useless.

Good comment. I cleaned the grooves; they were pretty crusty. However, the seals were really worn, and need to be replaced for safety sake. It's probably the reason I skidded last month and when down; the front brakes locked up and I was unable to re-gain control. The asphalt road was fresh wet and slippery.
I bought the piston and seal set from Yamaha, but we'll contact a seal company and try to cross them over for the next XJer. Thanks for responding. It's 7 days to the Oklahoma Talimena rally and counting. Ride safe. Stan'80 XS1100LG Midnight Special

Stan:
I would like to get the info if you can cross-reference the seals. Plan to rebuild 2 sets this winter, one set on the bike and a spare set I had picked up some time back.Jerry Fields
