There are some specialty tools needed to work on an XS.
While they are not cheep, not too XSpensive either.
caliper
mercury sticks, easiest tool to use synking the carbs
philips screw driver, good quality one will pay for it's self
metric feeler gage
valve tool (while not nessary, can save a load of time
half a dozen metric wrenches/sockets
couple metric allen wrenches
With above can preform most common maintenance.
With what it costs to have a Prom do a tune up and sink the carbs, you can get above tools.
Down side is if you are not confident of what your doing it could be cheeper in the long run to have professional do it and not loose to much riding time with a bike that does not run right.
Real cool if an XSperienced member here could give you a hand.
