  • fixing flat front tire

As I am making the last stop before launching myself on PCH from point Dume - point doom - the handle bar wabbles. This happened after dark, AAA towed my ride, I will look at it tomorrow but I am in for a new tire?
Got lucky there tho, I have to admit.

Btw did 600 mi to Vegas last week, got some loose gunk that caused the bike to hog a few times on the way in. It does it after adding seafoam, which I had done in preparation for this trip. Seafoam works fine, my petcocks still aren't clean from the bike being abandoned 15 years. Nothing on the way back, 80 @ 5k rpm all the way, it seemed that it was where it wanted to be. Great bike. Opened up once, what's the speed for 7k? The road wasn't great I floated a couple and let go.

Oh, found gas $5.29 for some 87.

Sometimes those screen towers on the petcocks can become pretty clogged.

About the tire...I have heard two trains of thought. One is that you never trust a repair on a bike tire, especially a front tire. The other is that if the hole is in the tread area and you have pleanty of tread, you can plug it, and then patch it from the inside. I think the above two statements are for tubeless. I would imagine you could patch a tube type to protect the tube, patch the tube and be good to go.

      two trains of thought

I patch my own tires (if there in pretty good condition) and have not had any problems, but would not patch one for anyone else unless it happened on a trip to get em going to the next town etc..

        the set up was:

old rims new tire new steel valve

most likely valve faulting, maybe on contact with old rim

they put a tube in it for $40

they say with old rims it's worry no more with loosing pressure

so onto the rear tire, no?

how much to "clean up" a set of wheels?

did angel's crest today for the first time, nice

why not put a tube in the rear tire as well to prevent flats or loss of pressure?
